My paintings resurrect art historical tropes from the dead, reanimated through feminist gestures of performance and the haptic materiality of pigment and oil. Through this work, I interrogate the complex interplay of the performance of gender, our omnivorous relationship to images, and the binge and purge of Painting. This ensemble of recurring characters continues to transform through ongoing iterations; they are extensions and expressions of my experience of the world around me and my desire to amplify and contribute to the conversations about embodiment, subjectivity and the complicated history of feminism within contemporary figurative painting.
